As a professional organization, we exist solely for the benefit of our members—and what an incredible group of members we have! From budding professionals to seasoned principals and leaders, we’re grateful for each and every one you. To show that gratitude, we’ll periodically showcase members, both new and experienced, in Member Spotlights.
First up, Lindsey Gregory, CPSM! With nearly ten years in SMPS and three years serving in various roles for the SMPS board, we can’t call her a favorite (because you’re all our favorites), but she’s pretty darned fantastic, if we do say so ourselves.
Read on to learn more about Lindsey!
What is your current role? Marketing Manager, West Region PM/CM, WSP USA Inc.
What brought you into the AEC marketing industry? I sort of fell into the industry as a young graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in San Francisco, but it was the happiest accident I’ve ever experienced. Marketing professional services really let me explore creativity in graphic design, as well as copywriting. Not to mention my passion for learning. I love the fact that I get to learn about the way our communities are developed, from planning and engineering to construction and commissioning! I’m a nerd at heart and this industry really suits me.
What is your favorite SMPS memory? For the 2018-2019 SMPS San Diego board year, I was the Golf Committee Chair. To date, it is probably one of the most challenging, yet rewarding, projects I have led. I loved creating the safari theme and seeing people really get into it the day of the event. I also (selfishly) loved bringing in the live animals. It was a life-long dream to pet a sloth and SMPS San Diego made that dream come true! Most importantly, I was excited to bring in a sizeable donation for Monarch Schools (https://monarchschools.org/). They’re such a great organization and do amazing work—particularly important during these times where so many families are struggling.
What’s your favorite San Diego landmark? My absolute favorite location in San Diego is Balboa Park. It involves so many of my favorite things—gorgeous architecture, beautiful gardens and outdoors, art museums, and jazz! I miss going to Panama 66 and catching live jazz shows on Wednesday nights.
What is your dream vacation destination? I’m a travel nut, so even in normal times, I have a million dream vacation destinations. Number one on my list is Spain—specifically Barcelona. And Venice before it sinks. Might have to loop those two destinations into a single vacation.
What’s a cause you’re passionate about? I’m a big supporter of volunteerism and have volunteered with the SPCA, the Lighthouse for the Blind, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and many others. These days, I’m really excited to see the support for the #BlackLivesMatter and am passionate about lending my support and my voice to promoting equality for persons of all colors, genders, and orientations.
